Food as Medicine Program

Promise Healthcare responded to the Innovation and Collaboration Tour with a new, innovative project to address food insecurity in a rural college town setting where poverty is often not considered. The foundation stepped up to support the Food as Medicine Program. Patients receive a bag of healthy and nutritious groceries and referrals to food pantries and other community-based services. In the first year over 3322 kids were screened for food insecurity and 1007 families received bags of healthy food to bolster the dietary quality of all the children in the family.
